I want to start by saying, I have only been to ‘Zizzi’ twice – ever.

My first time was a few months ago, and I really enjoyed the whole experience. The atmosphere, service, food and drink got a big thumbs up.

I went there again last night for a friend’s birthday. There were only four of us and as soon we sat down I knew it was going to be a long night. The restaurant was half full – not bad for a Tuesday night, but there were only 2 chefs and 2 waiters, who were clearly rushed off their feet. It took 30 minutes to be offered a drink and then there was a really big gap between starters and mains.

I want to point out though, our waiter was lovely! He was really polite and I can’t fault him – it’s not his fault he’s busy right!?

So, I went for the ‘Fonduta Formaggi’ which is essentially lots of melted cheese and fresh breadsticks – YUM!

It was as good as it was before.

Loved the ‘plate feature’ so much, I took a photo. 🙂

We all really enjoyed our starters, so now for mains…

I went with the ‘Ravioli Di Capra’ – I’m so predictable but I love love love Ravioli stuffed with spinach and cheese, especially if it’s fresh!

Now, if I am being brutally honest (and you can see from the photo) – it wasn’t the best I’ve had. The ravioli was nice but there was so much sauce, and it was really burning my lips. The tomato was quite bitter, like it needed a little pinch of sugar. I had to leave a piece of ravioli in the end, which pained me massively (I have this thing where I can’t leave food on the plate :-/).

One of my friends had this funky looking dish ‘Spiedini Pollo’. I thought it looked quite cool, but my friend wasn’t impressed. Mainly because, this was her small plate and the meal was literally potatoes and some chicken. No veg or salad.

She ended up asking for another plate, but they just gave her another small one, so she ended up with one plate of potatoes and one full of chicken.

The dish tasted ok, but wasn’t recommended. I guess not everyone likes their food to be served hanging!?

All in all, I do enjoy Zizzi. It has a nice surrounding and the service, although slow on this occasion, is always good.

Overall, it was ok, but not great…

Oh, worth mentioning that students get 25% off with a valid NUS card. We managed to get a ‘30% off all main meals’ voucher code. Zizzi is great for deals, so make sure you research for discount codes prior to going. 🙂
